Our client based in Woodmead, JHB is seeking a Lead DevSecOps to join their team. This will be an in office position
The Lead DevSecOps Lead is tasked with overseeing the software development function, ensuring that security and infrastructure best practices are integrated throughout the development lifecycle. This role supports the development team through strong technical leadership and delivery of practical security guidance.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test and security scanning
- Collaborate with the team to optimize platform efficiency, scalability, observability
- Advise on and help implement cloud and hosting architecture, networks, and supporting infrastructure to meet uptime, resilience, and security requirements
- Ensure source code repositories, branches, and artefacts are governed & secured, code reviews with an emphasis on security, performance, readability
- Oversee the roll-out and upkeep of testing and staging environments
- Monitor both production and non-production environments, proactively identifying inefficiencies, bottlenecks, security gaps, and failure points, driving remediation
- Embed security-by-design & privacy-by-design principles into the software development lifecycle, including secure coding practices, automated security
- Contribute to incident response planning, including monitoring, alerting, and developing playbooks for security and availability incidents
- Identify cost-effective tools, platforms, and services for DevOps, monitoring, security, infrastructure, and collaboration, supporting Dev and IT cost management
- Design and support migration and onboarding strategies for schools, including data migration, cut-over planning, and adoption support
- Provide guidance on the IT infrastructure needed to support both the platform and internal operations, including servers, cloud services, backups
- Experience
- At least five years of experience in software development and/or DevOps roles
- Demonstrable experience with modern web application development using technologies such as Node.js, .NET, Java, Python (customize to stack as needed)
- Experience with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps
- Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP (specify as relevant)
- Experience with containerization and orchestration like Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience in EdTech or with systems handling student information
- Familiarity with data protection regulations, such as POPIA, GDPR,
- Exposure to or certification in security or DevOps, including CISSP, CCSP, OSCP
